South Island 04/09 Moeraki Boulders
After leaving Waioara Valley we drive down the East Coast for a long day and 380 km on East Friday. Just after Oamaru and before Dunedin, we stop as the sun sets to walk along the coast and see the Moeraki Boulders - spheres millions of years old created around lime crystals within the surrounding mudstone.
The tide is coming in and we rush to see them before they are covered and we are caught between the sea and the cliffs.
I try to climb on one and fall in the deep water that surrounds them!
