On April 3rd, 2009, we took the girls out of school a week early and went on a 3 1/2 week trip to the South Island. After a 3 hour ferry ride from Wellington to Picton we headed on the highway down the East Coast....with a lovely rainbow over the highway signalling a promising start to our trip.
